Get On The Bus

Our church is like a bus. Recently we stopped the bus and clearly announced our direction. Some people chose to get off the bus at this point, others chose to get on. Now we are going to hit the accelerator so we can get going faster. How are we going to go faster? It is like this – I used to live in a very large city where I got around by bus. Sometimes a trip that would take 20 minutes in a car would take over an hour by bus. Why? Because of all the people on the bus who were not going the same place I was. They needed the bus to stop and let them off where they wanted to go and that delayed me getting to my destination. We are called as a church to help ordinary people become extraordinary Christians. There are only two stops on our bus route – ordinary and extraordinary. We are no longer a tour bus, but a shuttle bus. We are picking up ordinary people and speedily taking them to extraordinary Christianity, sending them off and heading back for more.
